Ammoglossa Beach

38° 50.8′ N · 20° 43.2′ E

A shallow, calm, emerald-coloured beach on the sand tongue right at the northern entrance of the Lefkas Canal, looking across to the Agia Mavra castle.

Practical

Greeka: coarse sand and pebbles, warm shallow water and mostly sheltered from wind, no facilities, crowded in summer; the three stone breakwaters (groynes) that protect the canal entrance are just offshore. Sailingissues.com notes the groynes were built in 2015 and are marked by three yellow buoys. A burning motor yacht was towed into the shallows here in September 2026 and the bridge briefly closed to boats (ilefkada.gr).

Best for

Easy swim while waiting at the north end of the canal
