Lefkas Town Quay

38° 50.0′ N · 20° 42.7′ E

The canal-side town quay on the north-east edge of Lefkada town, a cheaper and livelier alternative to the marina with bars and tavernas a few steps from the stern.

Practical

Go stern-to with your own anchor in mud (good holding per my-sea). sailingissues.com (visits in June 2022, spring 2024): underwater ballasting sticks out in several places, so keep the boat an extra 2 m or so off the quay and use the dinghy as a gangway; several heavy chains for lazy lines lie on the bottom, so be careful where you drop. Seven or more charter pontoons are installed in season and fill Friday to Sunday; the quay section facing ESE is the best spot in the prevailing NW wind. In easterlies use the marina instead. Swell can come in from the south. A busy road runs behind the quay and nightlife goes on into the early hours (my-sea). Port police are close by on the waterfront.

Best for

Budget town berth close to restaurants and provisioning

Season

Apr-Oct; uncomfortable in strong easterlies
