Agios Georgios Pagon Bay

39° 42.9′ N · 19° 39.5′ E

A wide bay with a long curved sandy beach and aquamarine water on the north-west coast, guarded by the Cape Arilla peninsula and the clifftop village of Afionas — with anchoring spots at the north end of the beach and in the lee of the Arilla isthmus.

Practical

Coordinate is SailingIssues' anchorage east of the Cape Arilla isthmus. mySea logs deep water further out (18–22 m, sand with weed patches, good holding at 39.71559, 19.66205), so tuck in close. Open to the west and south-west; fine in light NW but swell rolls in when it blows. A path at the isthmus leads to the hidden Agios Stylianos chapel (SailingIssues). Beach tavernas along the bay.

Best for

Big-beach anchorage on the wild west coast
