Tigaki Beach (Kos)

36° 53.4′ N · 27° 11.0′ E

A long, shallow sandy beach on Kos's north coast, about 10 km west of Kos Town, backed by the Alykes salt lake and its birdlife. It is one of the island's two most popular sand beaches, alongside Lambi.

Practical

Coordinate is the centre of the OSM beach outline (way 240796208, tagged 'Tigaki', English name 'Flamingo Beach'); the village centre is about 150 m inland and 1.5 km off the Kos–Kefalos main road (Wikipedia). There is no harbour here and no anchoring guidance in any sailing source used; the beach faces north into the meltemi and shoals gradually, so treat it as a day stop by car or bike from Kos Marina, or a calm-weather lunch anchorage only. Combine with the Alykes Salt Lake (separate entry). Tavernas, sunbeds and water-sports in the village in season.

Best for

Sandy swim and birdwatching by bike from Kos Town

Season

Jun–Sep; exposed to the meltemi
