Strongyli Megistis (lighthouse islet)
36° 6.8′ N · 29° 38.2′ E
A flat, scrubby islet about 4 km southeast of Kastellorizo whose lighthouse is the easternmost building in Greece. Local excursion boats combine it with Ro and the Blue Cave.
Practical
Position: Wikipedia (36°06′50″N 29°38′12″E). The islet is about 1.5 km long and 700 m wide. Its only inhabitant (2021 census) serves at the army surveillance post, supplied by an aerial cableway from the landing. Treat it as a military area: view it from the water and do not land. No sailing guide we found gives anchoring data; it is open to all winds, so stop only for a swim in settled weather and keep a watch aboard. The Turkish coast is close by, so stay in Greek waters.
Best for
A day-sail loop with Ro and the Blue Cave
