Peristera Ancient Shipwreck

39° 10.7′ N · 23° 56.3′ E

A merchant ship lost in the last quarter of the 5th century BC carrying an estimated 4,200 amphorae of Mendean and Skopelos wine — opened to divers in 2020 as the Alonissos Underwater Museum, Greece's first.

Practical

Protected archaeological site at about 20–25 m: do not anchor on it or dive it independently. Visits are only with an accompanying guide from one of the licensed dive centres — Alonissos Seacolours, Alonissos Triton or Ikion Diving — and require Advanced Open Water certification (museum website). Non-divers can take the virtual-reality dive at the Information Centre in Chora (daily 10am–2pm and 5:30pm–9:30pm, €4). A live monitoring system streams the site. Yachting.com notes it is reached via local dive centres, not as a sailing stop.
