Palionisos Bay (Kalymnos)
37° 2.1′ N · 26° 58.9′ E
A deep, steep-walled bay on the NE coast (also called Baia Isolavecchia) with a pebble beach, a couple of tavernas and a hamlet reached mostly by footpath. It feels far from anywhere.
Practical
Holding is bad and the bottom drops off steeply, which makes anchoring difficult. Two tavernas have laid moorings, built from concrete-filled barrels, engine blocks and even concrete-filled fridges per a 2012 report. They are fine in reasonable weather, but check them. Ilias taverna has good views and fair prices (2024-era report). Taking a buoy implies eating ashore.
Best for
Secluded taverna-buoy night on the east coast
