Anchorage· Kalymnos· Greece — Dodecanese, Sporades & North Aegean

Emporios Bay (Kalymnos)

37° 2.7′ N · 26° 55.7′ E

The northernmost village of Kalymnos, in a bay sheltered by the islet of Kalavros, where taverna moorings and fish dinners draw yachts on the Patmos–Leros–Kalymnos run.

Practical

Well protected from the meltemi, but the bottom is mud and sand with thick weed and uncertain holding. Use one of the (orange) taverna buoys and eat at that taverna; a 2024-era report notes a rocky bottom and advises checking your holding. Alternatively, anchor in the small cove SW of the village in 6–7 m, with good holding in sand and room for 3–4 boats to swing. It's sheltered from all directions except east. Water is murky from fish farms. 13 nm from Pothia, 26 nm from Patmos and 12 nm to Alinda (Leros).

Best for

Overnight on a buoy with a fish supper

Season

May–Oct; open to the east
