35° 44.4′ N · 27° 10.5′ E · approximate

A mountain village spilling down a ridge in the north of Karpathos, where women still wear traditional costume and the local Elympos dialect survives. Its isolation has preserved one of the most traditional communities in Greece.

Practical

Position is approximate, taken from the village mini market and clinic mapped in OpenStreetMap (Wikipedia gives 35°44′N 27°11′E). Reach it from Diafani by the one morning bus or the one official taxi (MarinaTips), or on foot along the old trails. The village has the only grocery mini market in the area, a clinic and a spring (Mesa Vrisi). Population 530 (2021, Wikipedia). Bring water and sun protection for the climb.
