Diafani Harbour (Karpathos)

35° 45.4′ N · 27° 12.6′ E

The small port of northern Karpathos and the gateway to Olympos: a seafront village of tavernas where the ferry calls and the road from the mountain village ends.

Practical

MarinaTips: if there is space, berth on the inner west side of the big ferry quay, for one or two boats at most; the coast guard will advise on mooring or anchoring. The harbour is exposed: protection from NE, SW and W is listed as zero, so use it only in calm conditions. mySea also reports it uncomfortable in the meltemi. Keep clear of ferry manoeuvres. Getting to Olympos is limited to one morning bus and one official taxi (MarinaTips). No filling stations north of Aperi (Wikivoyage, 2025): arrive with full tanks. Tavernas on the front include The Dolphins, Corali, Anemoessa and Rahati (OSM). Boats leave from here for Tristomo and Saria (aegeanislands.gr).
