Limenas Meston (Mesta Harbour)

38° 17.3′ N · 25° 55.8′ E

The harbour of the medieval village of Mesta, a fishing and ferry port in a deep bay on Chios's SW coast, 4 km below the village.

Practical

Plenty of docking space; come side-to with at least 3 m (CruisersWiki); Grecosailor gives about 5.5 m at a very high quay suited to medium fishing boats. Shelter: protected from the meltemi behind the mole but swell can be uncomfortable, and Grecosailor reports near-constant backwash in N and NW winds; excellent protection from southerlies. Big car tyres on the quay mark hulls. Coast Guard collects harbour dues (CruisersWiki); Limenas coast guard +30 22720 76239 (CruisersWiki). Two restaurants, no provisions; fuel at a station outside Olympi. Taxi in Mesta +30 6972 543 543; regular buses to Chios Town. Mesta harbour lights marked on OSM seamarks.

Best for

Base for Mesta, Pyrgi and Olympi

Season
