Agios Sostis Islet Anchorage (Chios)

38° 18.7′ N · 25° 57.5′ E

An anchorage tucked behind the rocky islet of Agios Sostis on the SW coast, close west of the Agios Stefanos islet anchorage, with good holding and a flat sea once the northerly swell is broken.

Practical

Grecosailor: anchored in 5 m on sand and seagrass with 35 m of chain, good holding; the islet reduced the swell from the north. Their attempt in the south cove failed to hold — use the north side. Position 38°18'41.8"N 25°57'27.7"E (Grecosailor). Agia Irini beach and the Mesta harbour are close by.

Best for

Overnight on the SW coast in northerlies

Season

Good in N; check holding before leaving the boat
