Kyra Panagia Beach (Karpathos)

35° 35.3′ N · 27° 10.7′ E

A postcard cove of white sand and smooth pebbles between steep green hills, about 14 km north of Pigadia. The red-domed chapel of Kyria Panagia stands on the cliff over its south side and gives the beach its name.

Practical

Greeka: turquoise water that is usually calm but deepens quickly, with sunbeds, umbrellas and a fish taverna; rooms and a hotel nearby. Excursion boats come from Pigadia. Barbaros names Kyra Panagia and Apella for their exceptionally clear water. No verified yacht anchoring data: approach slowly and anchor off in settled conditions; avoid in easterlies.

Best for

Lunchtime swim and fish taverna
