Apella Beach (Karpathos)

35° 36.2′ N · 27° 9.6′ E

Often called Karpathos's most beautiful beach: a long cove of fine white sand and pebbles about 18 km north of Pigadia, with pines and big rocks at the back and startlingly clear water.

Practical

mySea rates it a lovely anchorage in untouched surroundings in 2–10 m over sand, seaweed patches and rock, with good to very good holding. mySea flags underwater rocks about 100 m from its pin, so keep a bow watch. Greeka: sunbeds, a traditional taverna above the beach, regular excursion boats from Pigadia, and crowds in midsummer. On the east (lee) coast in a meltemi, but expect gusts; leave in an easterly.
