Kechria Bay (Skiathos)

39° 11.1′ N · 23° 26.7′ E

A tiny, green cove on Skiathos' north-west coast with few beach users even in summer, below a superb walk up to a monastery.

Practical

Pebbles and sand. The north-west bays (the Katavothra coast) are safe in NE to SSW winds. Just north of Ligaries beach; the headland between them flies a Hellenic Navy flag and marks the Tarsanas taverna (recommended). Avoid the rocky bottom off the small breakwater on the headland (Sailing Issues).

Best for

Quiet lunch or night in easterlies, with a taverna and a hike

Season

NE–SSW winds
