Megali Ammos & Siferi Bay (Skiathos)
39° 9.5′ N · 23° 28.6′ E
The bay just west of town and the Bourtzi, with surprisingly good shelter and an easy dinghy ride into Skiathos — the standard alternative when the harbour is full.
Practical
Two spots (Sailing Issues): (1) off Megali Ammos beach near the 'My Ithaki' taverna (this position) — posidonia makes sandy patches hard to find; more weed at the east end, so most boats choose the west end of the yellow swim-buoy line; (2) east end of Ormos Siferi near Bourtzi (39.16025, 23.48419) — wooded shore, go stern-to with a long line to the rocks below the cliffs. MarinaTips ('Skiathos West Bay', 39.1606, 23.4814) reports good holding in sand with good protection from the northern sector; avoid strong S–SE. Ferry movements send annoying swell in. Keep out of the airport approach cone east of town.
Best for
Overnight close to town when the harbour is full
Season
May–Oct; untenable in strong S–SE
