Blefouti Bay (Leros)

37° 11.5′ N · 26° 49.2′ E

An attractive, reef-fringed cove on the NE coast of Leros with a sandy beach and a small fish taverna.

Practical

Reasonably protected from the meltemi (less so than Partheni) and in winds W through SE. The most sheltered western side is taken by small-boat moorings, so anchor toward the middle in sand and weed, which is not always good holding. Danger: several reefs at the entrance and along the E side. Enter east of the reef but keep away from the E shore (leros.gr: keep the above-water rocks to starboard; over 5 m alongside them). Open to E–SE. I Thea Artemis taverna serves good fresh fish and is closed off-season. Off this coast lies the Heinkel He 111 bomber wreck (Blefouti), at about 16–18 m.
