Partheni Bay (Leros)
37° 11.4′ N · 26° 48.1′ E
A large landlocked bay on the north coast, sheltered by Archangelos and a ring of islets. It's the bombproof meltemi hidey-hole of Leros, with two boatyards and the airport alongside.
Practical
Best shelter is on the north side of the inner cove at the east end of the bay: 'even in a strong meltemi your boat is safe here'. Anchor in 3–8 m (leros.gr) on mud and some weed, with good to very good holding, clear of the many local moorings on the south side and the small fish farm to the NW. A naval installation lies on the W side and a military camp to the SE; don't anchor or photograph near military areas. Anchoring off Agia Matrona is reportedly restricted for fishing boats. Little nearby: the nearest taverna is about 2 km off by the airport. There is some aircraft noise (a few flights a day). Clients may use the yards' buoys temporarily.
Best for
Meltemi refuge and boatyard visits
Season
