Anti-submarine net control ship wreck (Partheni)
37° 12.2′ N · 26° 47.6′ E
A specially rebuilt Italian vessel, with motors at bow and stern, that laid the steel net protecting the entrance to Partheni. Divers follow a thick rope down to the hull, then go inside the engine room and bridge, where bullets are everywhere and a huge tear in the side shows how she sank.
Practical
Diving on Greek wrecks is restricted: these are among the 91 modern wrecks the Culture Ministry listed in 2021 for organized, guided dives, so go with the local dive centre (Hydrovius, Krithoni) rather than independently from your yacht, and take nothing. Depth 36–40 m (Hydrovius; the ministry list gives 43 m), advanced/deep. Coordinate is the Hydrovius dive-map pin at the Partheni entrance, near Archangelos islet. aegeanislands.gr also describes a Greek barge wreck near Cape Korais, Partheni, commandeered by the Italians for anti-submarine work, where visibility is limited by the nearby fish farm.
