Balkoni Taverna (Emporeios, Nisyros)

36° 36.2′ N · 27° 10.6′ E

A family-run taverna in the hilltop village of Emporeios, about 6 km above Pali, serving home cooking and meat from free-range animals, with the caldera falling away below.

Practical

mySea lists it as 'Balkony' (family run, home-made food, popular with locals, meat; meat from free-range animals), phone +30 22420 31607. Sailing Issues separately recommends 'Apyria' in the churchyard of Emporeios for good-value dining, and Wikivoyage says the taverna in Emporeios has a great view of the crater valley. Get there by scooter or taxi from Pali (Eagle's Nest and other rentals on the Pali quay), or walk up the old Evaggelistria–Emporeios trail (see separate entry). Combine with a visit to the volcano.
