Saturday Charter Changeover (Lavrio/Alimos)
37° 42.6′ N · 24° 3.7′ E · approximate
Saturday is turnover day for most Greek charters. Lavrio and Alimos fill with returning boats on Friday afternoon, then empty in a rush on Saturday evening.
Practical
SailingIssues: handover usually runs 2pm–5pm on Saturday, and a paid priority check-in before noon is sometimes available. Dream Yacht Athens (2021): embarkation at 5pm with a 40–90 minute briefing; disembarkation at 9am; return to base at least two hours before sunset the evening before. Dream Yacht also gave the first and last nights in the marina free, excluding water and power. Barbaros: Friday afternoons in Lavrio are crowded with returning fleets, so arrive early. SailingIssues suggests sailing extra miles on Saturday evening to get ahead of the flotillas: Sounion is 24 nm from Alimos, while Kea is about 14 nm from Lavrio. Bring soft bags, not suitcases. Coordinate is approximate: set at Lavrio harbour to represent both bases.
