Plathiena Beach & Arkoudes (Milos)

36° 45.3′ N · 24° 24.8′ E

A sheltered sandy cove on the north-west coast below Plaka, facing the Arkoudes ('bears'), a cluster of rock formations standing in the sea.

Practical

Greeka: partly organised, sandy and secluded, with wheelchair access; the Arkoudes rocks stand opposite. It faces north-west, so it is a calm-weather stop only when the meltemi is blowing. Charted rocks lie off this coast (OpenSeaMap); approach with care.

Best for

A calm-day swim stop between Klima and Firopotamos
