Ancient Theatre & Venus de Milo Find Site (Milos)

36° 44.3′ N · 24° 25.3′ E

A white marble theatre of Roman date on the slope between Trypiti and Klima, looking straight out over the mouth of Milos Bay. A short walk away, a marked spot shows where a farmer dug up the Venus de Milo on 8 April 1820.

Practical

Wikipedia: the ancient city's theatre is of Roman date on the slope between Trypiti and Klima; the Venus de Milo was found in 1820 by a local farmer, with French sailor Olivier Voutier present, and was later bought for France after the intervention of Dumont d'Urville. Greeka: the theatre was probably begun in Hellenistic times, was closed from the late 1990s until 2016 and has reopened; it hosts performances and there are few facilities nearby. The OSM-marked find site is about 160 m east of the theatre, beside the path to the catacombs. Free open access to the theatre was not confirmed; verify locally.
