Klima Fishing Village (Milos)

36° 44.1′ N · 24° 25.2′ E

A row of brightly painted syrmata, two-storey fishermen's houses with boat garages cut into the rock at sea level, lining the shore just inside the mouth of Milos Bay. It was the harbour of ancient Melos and is the most photographed waterfront on the island.

Practical

Greeka: shutters, doors and balconies are painted in vivid colours; most syrmata are now restored as small rentals; a small pebble beach is good for a swim; the seafront gets crowded at sunset and parking is very limited. The municipality calls old Klima 'the first port of the island'. By boat, anchor off in settled weather (see Klima Anchorage) and land by dinghy; by road it is downhill from Trypiti.
