Plaka Beach (Naxos)

37° 3.0′ N · 25° 22.0′ E

Four kilometres of golden sand and dunes running south from Agia Anna. It began as a hippie nudist beach in the 1960s and is now regularly listed among the best beaches in Greece.

Practical

Organised in places with sunbeds and tavernas. Wilder and quieter towards the south end (Greeka). There is watersports hire at Plaka Watersports (OSM 37.05606, 25.36194). An open west-facing shore with no harbour; in settled weather, anchor off the sand on your own judgement, or come by dinghy or water taxi from Agia Anna. The islets Aspronisi and Laros lie just offshore (OSM), so watch for them when approaching.

Best for

Long sandy beach walk from the Agia Anna mole
