Pisses Bay Anchorage (Kea)
37° 36.0′ N · 24° 16.4′ E
A broad sand bay on Kea's west coast backed by a long beach, a green farming valley, tavernas and a campsite. It is the site of ancient Poiessa, one of Kea's four cities.
Practical
Sandy bottom (aegeanislands). Sheltered from the meltemi, but open to all westerlies (sailingissues); if the wind goes west, move 1 nm north to Vroskopos. There are tavernas and a mini-market ashore (Poisses mini market, open about 8am-10pm per OSM; verify). Kea Trail 12 comes down to Pisses past the 4th-century BC Agia Marina tower. The coordinate is the OpenSeaMap anchorage symbol.
Best for
Swimming and a beach taverna lunch in the meltemi
Season
Jun-Sep meltemi; avoid in westerlies
