Paros Park & Agios Ioannis Detis Lighthouse

37° 9.3′ N · 25° 13.5′ E

The Environmental and Cultural Park of Paros covers the wild peninsula on the west side of Naoussa Bay, with 7 km of waymarked trails across granite headlands to the little Korakas lighthouse, hidden coves, and the monastery of Agios Ioannis Detis.

Practical

Created in 2009; about 80 hectares; seven kilometres of marked trails, the northernmost leading to the remote Korakas lighthouse (paros.gr). Monastiri is the only organised beach. Almyros and three other small sandy coves can be reached only on foot or by sea. A 700-seat open-air theatre at the entrance hosts a summer cultural festival. Land the dinghy at Monastiri beach. Carry water and a hat: there is little shade. The Korakas light is the landmark for entering Naoussa Bay (mySea). Position from the OpenStreetMap 'Akr. Korakas' light.

Best for

A morning hike from the Monastiri anchorage
