Old Coal Warehouses Anchorage (Agios Nikolaos Bay, Kea)
37° 40.2′ N · 24° 19.2′ E
The north-west corner of Agios Nikolaos Bay, below the ruins of the old coal warehouses. It is an alternative to the crowded Vourkari quay when strong northerlies blow.
Practical
Sailingissues lists this as the spot for strong northerlies and notes it disagrees with the Greek Waters Pilot on exactly where to drop. Sound your way in and check your swing. The same bay-wide caveats apply: mud over sand, a steep seabed and gusts in the meltemi. It is a dinghy ride across to Vourkari's tavernas or Korissia. The coordinate is the OpenSeaMap marker from sailingissues.
Best for
Quiet hook in a strong north wind
Season
