Fikiada Cove (Sifnos)

36° 54.4′ N · 24° 42.2′ E

A deserted, narrow sand cove on the south coast between Platis Gialos and Vathy, with the chapel of Agios Georgios and one of the island's oldest olive trees ashore.

Practical

SailingIssues: little room to swing, suitable in NW to SSE winds, solid holding in sand and weed. Catamarans can run a second anchor up the beach. Yachts should take a line ashore to the Agios Georgios church quay or just west of it. A reef lies on the opposite shore; SailingIssues says the Greek Waters Pilot chart is inaccurate here, while Eagleray, Garmin and C-Map are correct. mySea: go stern-to the north shore with long lines, 2-8 m, moderate to poor holding, shallowing toward the beach. Its small quay takes boats bows-to with a stern anchor in 1-1.5 m. Snorkelling is good. Reached on land only by trails from Platis Gialos or Vathy (municipality, trail 4).
