Elia Bay (Mykonos)

37° 25.2′ N · 25° 23.4′ E

The longest sandy beach on Mykonos and, per Sailingissues, the most sheltered south-coast anchorage. Only SE-SW winds bother it, so it's the go-to spot when the meltemi howls.

Practical

Anchor off the long sand beach. Exposed only from SE to SW (Sailingissues). Sailingissues warns that C-Map and the Greek Waters Pilot plot Agia Anna, Kalo Livadi and Elia in the wrong positions; Eagleray, OpenSeaMap and Garmin are correct. Ashore: organised beach with tavernas, bars, water-ski, parasailing and windsurf (Greeka). It's the last stop on the sea-taxi route, so it's quieter than Paradise. Bus to Chora. Agrari, just west, is an alternative.

Best for

Meltemi refuge on the south coast

Season

May-Oct; leave in SE-SW winds
