Delos Day Anchorage (Delos Channel)

37° 23.5′ N · 25° 15.6′ E

A daytime anchoring spot in the Delos-Rineia channel south of the Megali Rematia islet, from which you can tender to the Delos landing. Expect a short, choppy bay in a meltemi.

Practical

The Sailingissues author anchored south of Megali Rematia after 3pm to respect the 500 m rule and then used the dinghy. During opening hours, confirm with the Mykonos Port Authority where a yacht may lie. The channel is narrow and shallow, and the meltemi funnels in to build steep waves, so Rineia's bays are better for overnight (Sailingissues). Rocks and islets (Megali and Mikri Rematia) lie in the channel, so keep a bow lookout. Excursion boats run constantly to the Delos quay, so don't block their approach. No facilities. Coordinates from Sailingissues.

Best for

Tendering to Delos from your own boat

Season

Daytime only, Apr-Nov; uncomfortable in strong meltemi
