Agia Anna Beach (Amorgos)

36° 49.4′ N · 25° 54.4′ E

Rocky coves of gin-clear water below the Hozoviotissa cliffs, with a tiny whitewashed chapel of Agia Anna on the rocks. The Big Blue made this coast famous.

Practical

amorgos.gr: rocky and pebbled, reached on foot or by road from Chora; the Agia Anna chapel stands on the beach. The Big Blue (1988) was filmed on Amorgos and made the island a destination for freedivers (Wikipedia). Kambi beach is a 20-minute walk beyond (amorgos.gr). By land only for sailors: the east coast is generally untenable in the meltemi (George Yachts; sailboatliveaboard). Visit by bus or taxi from Katapola, combined with the monastery. Wear swim shoes on the rocks.
