ZMR de Tapuamu (Taha'a)

16° 36.9′ S · 151° 32.7′ W

A six-boat zone in the small bay north of Tapuamu village on the west coast, between the Pari Pari distillery dock and the village quay. It is the base for the Coral Garden, Le Taha'a resort and the island's only rubbish bins for yachts.

Practical

Quota: 6 boats, 48 h max (decree ZM-TP-1 to TP-4; position is their centroid). On the decree's SHOM chart, depths around the zone run about 12–26 m, and submarine cables run west from the bay toward Motu Tautau: no anchoring on the cable line. Pari Pari distillery has a dock at the north end of the bay. Take the dinghy south to the little marina in Tapuamu village for the Mana'o rum tasting room, e-bike hire (Enjoy Cycling Tahaa), and the fuel station (bring your own jerry cans; small store and snacks). The rubbish bins on the quay are the only trash disposal for sailors on Taha'a. The Coral Garden and Le Taha'a resort on Motu Tautau are a dinghy ride across the lagoon. Standard ZMR rules (arrêté 911 CM, 26 June 2025): boats under 20 m only; anchor inside the charted polygon; overnight (4pm–9am) must be pre-booked on escales.gov.pf, by email to escales.dpam@administration.gov.pf or by phoning DPAM on 40 54 45 78 (24/7). Day use 9am–4pm is free within the quota. Inside the zone: 5-knot limit, no sailing, anchor light from sunset to sunrise, AIS left on if fitted, no scuba, jet skis or windsurfers, swimming only close to your own boat, no underwater or hull lights, no grey/black-water discharge. The booking service was free during the 2025 pilot; the brief says fees start in 2026, so verify locally. DPAM planned to lay permanent moorings in 2026; once a zone has moorings, anchoring there is banned and you must use a buoy.
