Taha'a Overnight Anchoring Booking (DPAM / escales.gov.pf)

16° 37.8′ S · 151° 30.2′ W · approximate

Taha'a is under the Raiatea–Taha'a anchoring decree (arrêté 911 CM of 26 June 2025). Anchoring is banned outside 14 small-boat ZMRs and 5 large-yacht circles, and overnight places must be booked in advance.

Practical

Position is the centre of the Taha'a commune (OSM relation), standing for the whole island. Book overnight places (4pm–9am) on escales.gov.pf, by email to escales.dpam@administration.gov.pf, or by phoning DPAM on 40 54 45 78 (24/7). Boats under 20 m may use any ZMR space within the quota from 9am to 4pm without booking. The 2025 brief says the service was free during its pilot but fees would apply in 2026, so verify locally. DPAM 'ambassadors' visit boats to explain quotas. Exemptions: boats of 10 m or less without accommodation, for up to 24 h, and traditional Polynesian sailing canoes. No anchoring in channels or passes. Fines are 4th- and 5th-class contraventions. Also banned in the ZMRs: hull, underwater and masthead strobe lights; black and grey water discharge (go 3 nm offshore); nudity on deck or ashore. Separate DPAM no-anchoring zones (2023) protect submarine cables and outfalls (up to 300 m either side of the main cables). The parallel Moorea decree was challenged in 2026, so check escales.gov.pf or DPAM for the current status before arrival.
