Practical
Position is the island centre (OSM relation). Vanilla Tours (Hurepiti Bay) runs a well-known 4WD tour; book ahead so you can use their moorings. To go on your own, Tahiti Tourisme recommends e-bikes for the 67 km round-island road. E-bikes are for hire at Tapuamu (Enjoy Cycling Tahaa), cars and e-bikes in Haamene, and cars and scooters in Patio (Tahaa Vroum, 87 31 73 26). Hibiscus restaurant also hires cars. French Wikipedia notes that, unlike Raiatea, the coast road does not fully circle the island, and some stretches of coast are reachable only by boat.
