Cyclone Season (Society Islands)
16° 37.8′ S · 151° 30.2′ W · approximate
November to April is the hot, humid wet season in the Leewards (austral summer), with lighter, more variable winds and a risk of tropical cyclones.
Practical
Position is the island centre (OSM relation). The wet season is November to April and the dry season May to October (Wikipedia; Météo-France). Many charter itineraries favour May–October (Dream Yacht base guide). The sources checked name no designated cyclone refuge on Taha'a; Haamene Bay is the most enclosed bay, but it is deep (27–37 m mid-bay) with only two buoys at the head. Follow Météo-France Polynésie (meteo.pf) bulletins and the VHF 13 broadcasts.
