Pointe Fareone & Taurere Beaches (Motu Piti Aau south)

16° 32.4′ S · 151° 42.1′ W

The white sand at the southern tip of Motu Piti Aau, beyond the Motu Fare One moorings, where the lagoon turns turquoise over the reef flat toward Tupitipiti. NauticEd calls the anchorage at Pointe Fareone extraordinarily picturesque.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM beach polygon at the south end of Piti Aau, about 1 km south-east of the Fare One mooring zone. Landing status is not published: Air Tahiti Nui and bora-bora-insider say Matira is the island's only public beach. Wikipedia describes private households around Taurere village on the motu's south-west corner, so ask before landing and do not walk through private land. A snack named 'Motu Fan Fan' is mapped at Tepuhoro point (OSM, added July 2026); its hours and whether it serves visiting boaters are unverified. Snorkeling off the point is a separate entry. NauticEd describes shallow water with coral heads all around, so take the dinghy with a bow lookout and the outboard tilted.

Best for

Quiet sand near the Fare One moorings; ask before landing
