Opunohu Pass Shipwreck Snorkel

17° 29.2′ S · 149° 52.5′ W · approximate

A small wreck lying in the shallows on the west side of Tareu Pass at the entrance to Opunohu Bay, a popular snorkel stop combined with the nearby Tiki sculptures.

Practical

Approximate: estimated from the 'Wreck/Épave' symbol on the 2026 chart, just west of Tareu Pass, ±300 m. Snorkel at slack conditions; pass current here is mainly driven by swell and wind (the Windwards have only a 20–30 cm solar tide). Stay well clear of the marked channel, which carries activity boats, jet skis and cruise-ship tenders. Fly a dive flag.
