Turipaoa Evening Dance and Music (Manihi)

14° 27.6′ S · 146° 3.6′ W · approximate

Tahiti Tourisme says Turipaoa 'comes to life in the evenings with displays of traditional dancing and music' - a chance to see Paumotu culture in a village that rarely sees yachts.

Practical

Approximate: placed at the Tahiti Tourisme pin for the Manihi Tourism Committee, in the village. No schedule is published; ask the tourism committee (contact via its Tahiti Tourisme listing), your guesthouse or the mairie what is on, especially around July celebrations and school events. Dress modestly in the village. The Matari'i i ni'a 'Season of Abundance', celebrated across The Islands of Tahiti from November 20, marks the rising of the Pleiades and the start of the rainy season (Tahiti Tourisme).
