Manihi Mairie Reporting Point (Turipaoa)
14° 27.6′ S · 146° 3.5′ W
Manihi's town hall in Turipaoa, seat of the commune that also governs Ahe; with no gendarmerie post documented on the atoll, this is where a visiting yacht makes its courtesy call and asks about local rules.
Practical
Position is the OpenStreetMap 'Mairie de Manihi' building, a short walk from the darse and next to the post office. Manihi is NOT a port of entry: complete French Polynesia clearance first (online pre-arrival form, then a gendarmerie at an official port such as Rangiroa, Nuku Hiva or Papeete; see the area overview). None of our sources documents a resident gendarmerie on Manihi or Ahe; the Brigade Territoriale des Tuamotu is based on Avenue Bruat in Papeete, and its Tuamotu-Centre unit serves atolls with no permanent gendarme presence by sending patrols from Tahiti (Outremers 360, Dec 2025). So carry passports, boat papers and your clearance reference, and present them if a patrol or the municipal police (2 officers, 2024 sheet) asks. The 2024 atoll sheet lists mayor John Drollet (elected July 2020) and delegate mayor Alain Hapipi; a commune water fountain at the mairie sells drinking water at 6 XPF per litre. Ask here about the regulated-fishing zone (ZPR) in Tairapa Pass, renewed in 2022 under arrêté 2478 CM (no fishing in the pass), and about where you may anchor clear of pearl concessions. Opening hours are not published; go on a weekday morning.
