Tairapa Pass Wharf Fishing (Manihi)
14° 27.7′ S · 146° 3.3′ W · approximate
The pass-side wharf at Turipaoa, where local anglers gather in the evening and early morning to fish the current.
Practical
Approximate: placed at the Turipaoa darse and pass quay. Manihi Lodge's listing says most anglers meet at the wharf at Tairapa Pass in the evening or early morning. The pass itself is a regulated fishing zone (ZPR, arrêté 1421 CM 2017, renewed 2022 by arrêté 2478 CM), and Tahiti Tourisme says all Manihi dive sites are in a protected zone where fishing is not allowed, so ask locals what is permitted from the wharf before casting. Tahiti Tourisme notes good tuna, barracuda and mahi-mahi fishing outside. Ask about ciguatera before eating reef fish. Local supply boats have priority at the quay.
