Rotoava Dinghy Landing Beaches

16° 3.4′ S · 145° 37.2′ W

Rotoava is a long, thin village strung along the lagoon, so cruisers beach dinghies at whichever little sand gap between houses is nearest their errand rather than walk from the quay.

Practical

Coordinate is the public slipway near the quay (OSM). You can tie up at the quay, but it means a long walk to the southern shops. Starry Horizons (2016) used the beach where the paved road curves away from the shore; low branches there take a painter, a few blocks from Fakarava Yacht Services. Soggy Paws (2010) used a small beach just south of the town dock, closer to the stores. Pull the dinghy well up, and lock it. Do not land on private frontage where owners object. Trash bins are at the quay, between the pier and the white building.

Best for

Getting ashore close to the shops
