No chandlery, haul-out or marine store exists in the Gambier, but Rikitea has a generator mechanic, an outboard mechanic and a Commune workshop that has helped cruisers weld.

approx: placed in Rikitea village from the compendium's walking directions relative to the main dock and St Michael Cathedral (Wikipedia position); expect an error of up to about 300 m. Hetata, the island's generator mechanic, works for the mairie; reach him through the mairie or via Stephan (Tanavai), +689 87 27 91 41 (2021). Outboard mechanic Manawa, +689 87 74 04 73, speaks French only and is said to do good work. The Commune workshop by the southern dock has done welding (one report called it mediocre) and lent its welding table and power to a cruiser (2020). James at Magasin Terehere speaks English and was recommended for welding. Titouan and Juliette offered basic mechanics, fibreglass and sail repair (Jan 2023, check if still operating). Building materials are at Quincaillerie Vaituatai (+689 40 97 83 47), 0.9 mile north of the dock on the main street. Parts must come by Air Tahiti or supply ship, so carry spares. Offer to pay for any help.
