14° 56.9′ S · 147° 40.9′ W
The Brigade de gendarmerie de Rangiroa, which handles immigration and customs for yachts: Avatoru is the only port of entry in the NW Tuamotus, handy for boats arriving from Hawaii or the north.
Practical
Coordinate and hours from OpenStreetMap: Monday-Saturday 7am-12pm and 2pm-5pm; Sunday and holidays 9am-12pm and 3pm-5pm (verify locally). French Polynesia now uses a single online pre-arrival form for all foreign yachts; bring the reference number and passports (with visa if required). Pay the small anchoring tax here on arrival: Noonsite (2024) gives 150 XPF; 2011 reports describe 150 XPF per person per day, sometimes collected by boat at the Kia Ora anchorage. About 1.5 km east of Avatoru village.
