A 1,400 m paved strip on the north-east rim, 4 km from Rotoava, with direct flights to Papeete. It makes Fakarava the easiest place in the Tuamotus for crew changes.

IATA FAV, ICAO NTGF. Runway 05/23, 1,400 m, paved. Air Tahiti flies to Papeete, Rangiroa and Kauehi, and Air Moana to Papeete (Wikipedia); the flight from Papeete is about 1 hour 10 minutes. The airport is about 2.5 miles from the village, linked by 'le truck' bus. Luther (Tuarae) Le Truck, ph 87 24 91 61, charged 800 XPF per person (Dec 2023). Fakarava Yacht Services also arranges transfers. The Air Tahiti agency in the village opened only Monday and Friday, 8 to 10 am (Soggy Paws; verify). Crew arriving for the south pass can be shuttled by boat from the airport to Tetamanu by Motu Aito (2023). Air freight works: in 2024 a crew had Tahiti groceries flown in, eggs unbroken. Anchor in the Airport zone and land at the small dock in front of the terminal.
