Faaite Supply Ship Calls (Hitianau)
16° 42.1′ S · 145° 21.2′ W
Every couple of weeks a cargo schooner comes in to Hitianau and the village gathers at the quay. The three magasins restock, and copra and fish go out to Papeete.
Practical
Coordinate is Hitianau quay (OpenStreetMap). The 2021 government sheet: Cobia 3 (23 calls a year) and SXMS 3 (11 calls a year), with 34 calls made in 2020. BoatNews (2022): the two stores' 'stocks depend on the random passage of schooners. It is risky to rely on them for food!' Ask in the village when the next ship is due and shop that day or the next. The schooners use the mooring buoy off the village, so if you're on it, be ready to move. Order bread for the next morning from the bakery the day before.
