Bay Moutee (Nuku Hiva North)

8° 47.5′ S · 140° 11.7′ W

An uninhabited sand-bottomed bay on the north coast just west of Pua, a settled-weather alternative for boats exploring the NW.

Practical

Jacaranda (Oct 2015) explored it but did not anchor: sand from 70 ft at the entrance all the way to the beach; they turned at 08°47.48'S / 140°11.67'W in 20 ft LW and could have gone 70-100 m further in to anchor about 100 m off the beach. Some swell enters; a stern anchor would help. No buildings ashore. OpenStreetMap names this cove 'Motuee' (bay node -8.79113, -140.19482), with a small beach mapped at its head.
