Aranui Supply Ship Days (Taiohae)
8° 55.3′ S · 140° 5.7′ W
The arrival of the Aranui and other goelettes at the big quay is when Taiohae restocks: fresh milk, produce and meat hit the shelves and the town comes alive.
Practical
Coordinate is the centre of the OpenStreetMap-mapped grand quai (commercial wharf) where the supply ships berth. The official brief (2023) says the island is resupplied every 5 to 7 days and the Tourism Committee by the market keeps the ship arrival schedule. Shops close for a few hours to restock and the best goods go within hours, so shop as soon as they reopen. Larsons and Hoata get fresh milk from Tahiti when the Aranui is in (2024). The tourist office has the supply-ship timetable (Noonsite 2026). Fuel can be rationed until a supply ship refills the station. When cruise ships call, tenders crowd the bay and the artisan centre puts on a welcome.
