Nuku Dive Center (Taiohae)

Nuku Dive, founded in 2022 on Taiohae's small fishermen's quay, runs boat dives to about 15 sites along Nuku Hiva's south coast, 5 to 35 minutes out: cleaning stations with mantas and hammerheads, current-swept pinnacles, tunnels and caves.

Besides those listed separately (La Sentinelle, Motu Nui, Champ Jaune, Motu Mano, Tikapo, Matateteiko), the centre's site page lists Avaika (rocky point with rays, sharks, jacks, sun corals and dragon nudibranchs; 30 min; Level 1; boat ride rough in strong trades), Mur de Java (rocky tongue and scree with ray and shark cleaning stations, barracuda; 30 min; Level 1) and Dulcinea (shallow tunnel with crustaceans, cardinalfish and hatchetfish; 15 min; exposed to S swell); their positions are not published. Rules: a certification card (physical or digital) is mandatory in French Polynesia; depth is capped at 40 m for Level 3 and above; all gear is provided and the boat carries oxygen. For yachts, they will fill a tank for onboard safety (e.g. freeing a fouled anchor), not for independent diving. Noonsite: two dives in the morning, one in the afternoon, eight divers maximum, book early.
