Anaho No-Anchoring Zone
8° 49.3′ S · 140° 3.9′ W · approximate
The northern part of Anaho Bay, over the living coral reef, is closed to anchoring to protect one of the few Marquesan reefs.
Practical
Position approx: plotted where Jacaranda anchored in Aug 2015 (08°49.26'S 140°03.85'W) and was asked to move as it was a protected area. Rule posted on the bath house: anchor south of the river entrance, in sand, in more than 35 ft. Many boats prefer the protected northern spots, but please don't: the coral is already stressed by warming. Noonsite (2026) also caps the bay at 10 boats.
Best for
Anchoring legally and protecting the coral
